Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Did SC really say that?

Let me see, in the last 12 months oracle bought back 734 million shares worth $36 billion - is that right? That’s a staggering amount of money to waste on oracle stock! Desperate!?

SC didn't mention on THIS earnings call that the buybacks were the "bargain of a lifetime." Oh thats right, she sold 5 Million of her 5.9 Million shares last March.

@ZE1P6Fq-vde, yeah, but Apple ALSO spends money on R&D and CAPX. Oracle doesn't. Not nearly enough to compete with the real cloud players. Most of what Oracle calls R&D is really just operating costs to run the cloud. Accounting voodoo. The ONLY thing Oracle invests heavily in is it's own stock. Totally different from Apple.

Buy on a dip. They are minting money with this move.

Correct, but the rise in oracle EPS has nothing Yo do with company performance it’s all due to share buybacks

Didn't Apple buy back $80B? It's not just Oracle, unfortunately. Corporate America is siting on a mountain of cash and a large portion of it is being spent on buy backs instead of being spent on R&D.

$36B on stock buy backs. Wouldn't spending 1/36 of that on R&D, even risky R&D be a better investment? The only thing I see buying back your own stock does is help you control the price and help level out your EPS. oh wait.....
