With all of the layoffs in Melville, why did so many jobs suddenly get posted for there? A quick search for "resideo melville jobs" yields quite a number of highly paid engineering jobs. Many of these were posted right after the layoff. If one were suspicious one might think that the CTO is posting these to check a checkbox with legal then will fill the positions with H1B's after "multipliers" from the same region reject the local candidates. Thoughts?

I dont think it's the H1B Visa, but rather the L1 visa that causes problems for us as a company or as a country.
L1 ... These people are employees and do not have to go through a hiring process. They transfer to the US, bring their whole families, and all get a SSN and all get a work permit.
After 3-5 years they go back for a few months and the process can be repeated.
H1B ... these people get hired from out of country, they are new employees. The hiring process is much more difficult. While they can bring their families, the family members get neither SSN, nor work permit. After 3-5 years they are either sent back to their country or can apply for a green card. Not until that is granted can their families get work permits.
Almost no new products, and now the solution is to spin some new PMOs with H1Bs in Melville and Austin ?? This shows a lack of understanding of what’s the issue... That software club of incompetents that used to be under Ra****l should be all fired.
Def a checkbox. The CTO is incompetent and a total id--t. He will be out soon due to lack of delivery and very bad behavior. The question you want to ask is if the replacements and those building the "software" group are even more clueless with illusions of changing the world.
-nyh - you are actually pretty funny. a BIG reason the company was spun and is in the shape its in is because h1B and those in HGR CANT do the job. Hows sm looking? Tn platform? T**? They had a over year to fix this and it still looks as 5h1tty as a bangalore street. lol
There was a reason they were lay off. If we H1b can do the job so be it. We are already in Melville and will make sure this company moves forward with marketing and engineering that will also be coming over soon to fix the cloud
