Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Wilmington is a ghost town

Our center hasn’t had a new hire in almost a year and the second floor is 2/3 empty. The 3rd floor is 3/4 full. Do you all think Wilmington is closing? Lease is through 2024 but it feels strange like they are keeping something a secret?

If above is true, does this affect other tech reps in other centers????? Why no severance? It’s like we’re being forced to go hba!

To the Above comment, HBA is not the way of the future. It's a way of increased anxiety and depression. It is a position of non recognition. You are actually stuck as a CSR unless you want to opt for a coordinator/supervisor position and get a horrible shift since the regroup of coordinators. With 4000+ in HBA I'ts hard to actually be recognized or appreciated. $5 spot awards are not recognition or advancement. I hear people leaving this company and getting a much better position and pay for the same job. Oh and discover happiness again after they left Verizon. It's a sinking ship, get in the dinghy and sail to a better shore.

I'm always curious why people seem to think a lease will prevent a closure......do you really think the company would rather pay hundreds of people's salaries & benefits for the next 5 years versus eating a lease break fee?

They are not really hiring internally. Home base is growing hugely, over 4000 reps for HBA nationwide. It is the way of the future. They will probably eventually down size the office ls or restructure and place engineering and other personal there. Keep up your stats and be positive.
