Amazon close to making a move to acquire Rite Aid?? Cvs in trouble if that happens?

With the announcement that Amazon Lockers will be coming to Rite Aid stores, and that rite aid was the FIRST retailer they chose to partener up with, I think it's safe to say Amazon is making a play for rite aid. Not the first time this has made news, but this time is different. With Rite Aid's horrible Q1 results missing badly, this is just the time for Amazon to make their move. IF, and that's a big IF, Amazon does acquire rite aid, I do think Cvs is in real trouble. Rite aid gives Amazon a retail footprint, and state pharmacy licenses, and also gives pillpack an in-store option as well. This does not look good...

CVS is in trouble. Because they're in sickness benefits, is how I see it. I like health benefits better. For me, my family and my friends. Which is what AMZN is talking about. Seems to be the feint, acquisition, stack and opposite of sickness benefits. To me.

Look at your CVS parking lot and look at the Walgreens across the street. Walgreens still keeps up with their landscaping. CVS stopped investing back in stores that are not HUB stores a long time ago.

The real question is why did Amazon choose rite aid for this partnership? Why not Cvs or Wags that have a bigger national footprint? Figure it out, with rite aid so beaten down, they are prime for a takeover!

I think everyone is missing the point here. IF you were right. It means Amazon cannot expand without retail locations.

All of the hooplah. People still like to visit their pharmacy.

Would love to clean it! There is a reason so many CVS's are nasty, it's not because we are lazy but no time. Also the carpet has not been cleaned in over 3 years, maybe you can go rent a carpet cleaner and come clean it.

Of course it’s clean with full shelves, nobody shops there. And if your store is that dirty clean it.

Amazon wants in the pharmacy business real bad! I think that's painfully obvious. What they could do, is buy Rite Aid, and pare down the total store count to 1500 stores across the nation. Rename them "Amazon Pharmacy" and offer full amazon services in all stores. But seriously, think about it... Rite Aid gives Amazon an EXISTING retail footprint, plus the various state pharmacy licenses they would need, plus amazon also acquires Envision RX, rite aid's PBM! I know pbm's are under a tremendous amount of assault from congress, etc, BUT with a pbm, this gives PillPack a more level playing field to compete with Caremark! Truth be told the way Amazon is able to run things far more cheaply than cvs, wags, etc., with a select limited amount of stores they could pull this off. This deal to put amazon lockers into rite aid's is the first step towards an acquisition. Get your foot in the door and see how it goes.
