Thread regarding Walmart Pharmacy layoffs

There is no “business need” for my services

I have been a staff pharmacist for about five years right now. I work in Central Texas – I was let go on Wednesday and I was told that my position was being eliminated as there was no “business need” for my services. OK, so I get walked out and this is the end of my Walmart journey.

The part that absolutely makes no sense has to do with our Pharmacy being so busy and so short staffed that it’s absolutely nuts to even think they can operate with one pharmacist less – I am pretty sure they will hire someone ASAP as I know for sure they cannot cover everything with the staff they currently have.

So, let’s watch what happens – I am pretty sure they did not like my compensation and they are hoping to plug in a new graduate at a rack bottom compensation rate.

Who started out with $4 and $10 rx deals to destroy the whole profession??? Walmart shucks as always.

Pharmacist we know with 25+ yrs with WM was let go this week. He was told his position had been eliminated. So they eliminated the pharmacy manager? The guy who has 4 weeks vacation and is on a higher pay level. The guy with the most benefits. My bet is they will hire a new grad at $20 less per hr and few benefits. b--tards! We have to join together and not give them one more shopping $!

Hope you find employment. Hope there will be a class action law suit. Wish more news outlets would pick up the story

Yes, new grads are accepting positions at $45-50/hour because they’re not able to find employment. What a shame for our profession that we did not take steps to prevent this.
