Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Curious

I was a cash office accountant who was one of the eliminated. I am curious if the changes are making things any better. In my time the measurement were on levels so that is what was managed. The COS's were not measured on opportunity costs therefore getting money in the bank was not an issue, therefore they called me to do their jobs at the expense of my job. I personally fixed and submitted tickets that that literally saved the club thousands of dollars and hundreds of thousands of dollars on their financials. As the new front line Manager was responsible for some of the issues it would be fun to see if she incurred them again, as she may not have been aware and now that the COS's are performing the job - and are not measured by it - it would be fun to audit them, as I audited the former and found lots of mistakes

Our COS / Team Leads or whatever they want to call them now are supposed to do accounting. To date, only 2 of them have trained at all. They don’t replenish the recycler and aren’t really taking time to search for shortages. They have also just recently started working one of the former accounting clerks back up in the accounting office 3-4 days but not the other previous accounting associate (which is me). Hours have been cut severely. It’s a mess!

So my question is how are you still in a position that does not exist? How are you job codes? This is not the first I have seen this and when I put this scenario out there to include going part time I was given a definite no not an option

At our club it literally took days for a manager to sign off on the deposits, at least twice there were 5 days of receipts sitting in the back waiting for signature to be deposited, all the while losing the opportunity to earn easy interest.

I am still the cash office associate at my club. I hate all the changes they did to accounting/registers because now there is now way to tell who was short . Like register 3 might be short $238.00 but there might have been 3 cashiers running on it and since they made them register accountable, on the reports it says the total amount reg 3 should have turned in, it doesnt go by operator anymore. It is stupid! The store is definitely losing money ! There is no accountability whatsoever anymore.. I plan on leaving soon anyways so I could care less if they remove my position ..but I did used to love my job and did it with integrity and honesty...smh Sams is definitely going downhill...

Out of all departments eliminated, two needs to be re-instated...personnel and accounting.. I Believe both are crucial to run any successful business. Associates need direct help with personal matters and the financials need to be controlled at each club level.. How can one see actual profits and loss daily? How can one correct critical issues or identify internal monetary loss? How can one change their personal address? Guess CEO knows best!

Anyone can run on any register. No one is held accountable.

I know that our club was/is short an unbelievable, mind blowing amount. Won't give the exact number. Call me paranoid, but better safe than sorry. I don't know if they ever found out what happened to the money. Nothing is run as tight as it use to be.
