Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Next IT Exodus beginning

People have had enough. There's going to be a lot more knowledge walking out, even in India's revolving door. No one is paid enough to put up with this c-ap, and more and more wisdom is lost in each successive round of this macabre game of telephone. I predict someday in the not so distant future, systems will go down, and never come back up again.

SHC outsourced my job a few years ago and I went with the outsourcing company until my job was finally taken by India. Luckily I was planning for it and was not only prepared but relived when I got let go. The kid that took my job in India was 21 years old and what they called a “fresher” meaning it was his first job out of college. I had 29+ years of experience on critical IT systems specific to SHC and was given two weeks to train my replacement. The kid in India was really nice but not only did he have zero IT experience but didn’t even know what Sears was. When I raised my concerns to SHC management, I was told that who the contracting company replaced me with was beyond their control. Ironically last week I got a call from someone at SHC asking for information on one of these systems but I was out of town so he left a voicemail. No I know why. Priceless.

Not everything yet, but a lot of things are back, and things are very slow and service intermittent and things are timing out. Members are going to be colossally upset for awhile to clear a week's worth of backlog.

Everyone in IT knew this moment was inevitable years ago. It's been discussed at a department wide level, and with the business too. With Eddie and the execs, it's probably in one ear and out the other. They should be fired this instant. They should have been fired years ago. You have to wonder if they understand one single aspect of running a successful business. Eddie clearly doesn't, and he surrounds himself with chief executives who see things his way.
