Thread regarding Walmart Pharmacy layoffs

60 days to find another position

So many of our stories sound the same; manager reading from a scripted letter spewing the same bs to everyone. Script sales declining and reduction in hours blah blah blah. I worked at a store with hours allotted only for 2 pharmacist, and we closed daily for lunch. I knew immediately that management decided to give my job away to someone else, which they did, new guy already on the template. Literally put in blood sweat and tears at this pharmacy (all the days and nights staying late trying to help) For what, to be kicked to the curb? Devastated! I couldn’t even get on the wire to look for anything. Do you guys still have access to the wire?

Happening at Sam's, also. Mid-July. I was a Staff Pharmacist there for almost 8 years. A Market Director (not mine) and our Store Director, on a Friday morning, no notice, sat me down in our conference room and gave me a contractual ultimatum, Work 60 days then leave with a c-appy severance or work 24 hrs a week, a reduction in salary of about $43,000 a year. I had to sign a new contract (24hr/wk or leave) and fax it back to MY Market Director by Monday morning. 72 hrs to evaluate their offer. I felt like I was on Candid Camera. Was it really happening? Our store was 1 of 2 in our District to have positive pr-scrip-ion growth and had one of the best inventory controls, consistently. I took the 24hr/week, which started after 2 normal paychecks. I had received my second small paycheck when a competitive Market Manager was shopping at Sam's and asked me how things were going? I told him and the rest is history. Now, gainfully employed. Less per hour. Same Pharmacy hours. Full benefits. I can't work for a company I don't respect. Farewell Sam's/Walmart

They cut my access to Walmart one the same day I got the phone call. After 5 years of part time covering any shift and lots of overnights for remodeling. Stupid. If I didn’t work I cost them nothing. But I was making mid 60’s per hour and they can hire desperate new grads for $51. Pharmacy is sinking fast.

Same here, I was laid off on Monday and things were similar to what you describe.

I am in Houston. The sad part is, my wife was laid off last year from CVS and we decided that she should stay home with kids. Now we are both out of work.

Life sometimes plays game like this, we'll persevere.

Good luck all...
