Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Uverse going going gone

For those of you that doubted me that uverse will be gone, most likely by the end of this year here you go! Good old project Midas and osprey coming together to knock out Prem Techs. So we will have DirecTV, AT&T tv, and AT&T tv now.

In home isnt going to install them because they would have to pay us to do it plus cell phones is what pays. A customer calls me and says come switch 6 cell phones and I say I cant because I have to go install an osprey box from 12-4. No way. If in home had scheduled installs the position would fail.

We were told uverse would be phased out two years ago. The technology will still be used but for broadband only. The TV part will be gone soon so bandwidth is freed up.

I will plan on keeping U-Verse as long as I can, great product. I have U-Verse Voice, Data, and TV (video).

If the Video Service is replaced by a streaming product, I doubt it will be as good.?

Funny When we took over DIRECTV they said U-verse was done in six months and look it’s still here!... I’ll hold onto my U-verse until they pry it out of my dead hands

U-Verse is here to stay. It is the only thing saving this company

To this post, U-Verse is not the only thing saving the company, its the only thing saving st and opt jobs, but they will soon be gone.

@1ayv..uverse is not the only thing saving this company. Uverse is chump change compared to the revenues brought in by SSIM & CPE. SSIM & CPE are the cash cows no doubt. Video, dark fiber, Smart Rings, ASE, DS3, T1, DDS, 911, Fiber to the cell site for all of the wireless carriers, etc. These circuits provide a ripple effect of CO work and cable placement/maintenance that goes a long with it as well. Specials does have many chronic troubles on some copper T1's & DDSs, but there are thousands and thousands of high dollar circuits that we put in and never go back on.

CPE is a revenue generator also. Biggest point is that they are not limited to T's ILEC footprint. In those Out of region places they don't have to deal with I&M'ing the circuit s that feed their CPE(rumor is SSIM & CPE are getting married this fall). CPE even has customers within T's local wire centers who don't get their circuits from T, that's getting a customer that you wouldn't have gotten otherwise(Hello McDonalds, that would have been a good project to sell some circuits to).

Crazy times no doubt. I wouldn't feel safe in any department, but uverse simply is not the only thing saving this company. Better than TW & DTV? No doubt, but definitely not the sole entity that's "saving our company".

Thanks for the info. ATT has been saying this for along time. I do more fiber internet only installs right now than U-verse . Our management is testing osprey boxes now and like it.

Still trying to find more info, being in the field we are always last to know.

I’m laughing at people believing osprey, an android box like millions already out there, running the DTV now app or whatever garbage T wants to name it is going to be the end. Lol, people don’t want Atts garbage app, they don’t want it in their cell phones, they don’t want it in their Rockus and Apple TV. This is literally the same plan as they had when they first rolled out the DTV Now app except they are too cheap or can’t afford to give away Rockus and apple TVs anymore so they are packaging it into c-ap android box built out of off the shelf parts, the box has already been panned by reviewers as junk and the verdict on Atts streaming service is out. What a joke.

Lol, these are not fake, just like my screenshots of the TA email for district 4 before it was announced was fake to right. There is alot more information out there and all you have to do is a little searching internally. Some good information about VHO shutdown as well to go along with the Uveres shutdown.

Prem techs will still install AT&T TV if also installing broadband. Otherwise it is customer self-install only. In home experts won’t assist with installs until mid 2020 and even then only for customers with a competitor as a wireless provider since their goal is to switch them to AT&T for mobile service.

by
|
Post ID: @1psr+ZRtmdLZ

Oh wait I know- and then we will have Inhome show up at the customer's houses to install it for them! Because Prem Techs are just too expensive.

|
Post ID: @1mnu+ZRtmdLZ

It’s called customer aquisition cost. How many people can I get to pay me money every month, and me not spend any money to make that happen. Since linear tv as we know it is on the way out. Send someone a box plug it in and go. And the cash rolls in.
