Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It’s really different on the other side

I don’t mean this in a negative way. I was let go in Pittsburgh in 2017, well before the mass layoffs began. (Management hates my guts to this day, seriously) I started working again in a different company, and the atmosphere was so refreshing. I work with people who are happy, people who will help you, and management that cares. BNY was my first job out of college and I thought that the hostile environment was normal. Big surprise when I started my current job.

If you’re let go, please know that it may be the end of working for them, but the beginning of a wonderful season.

Yep, I had to wait until noon for the two offshore guys to leave before I could get into our shared worksheets to see the days updates. Hey, do you need anything? Nope, we’re good. Ok, I’ll just sit here then.

Good point about offshore employees. I’ve observed firsthand how job functions were kept out of US worker’s knowledge base. Offshore groups ‘owned’ the function and would not share information nor would include US workers into the group.

Same here. Laid off in January, not w I’m at a new company where people are cheerful, I was actually given 2 weeks of training by my co-worker. Not frozen out and ignored by offshore employees jealously guarding their work. My manager works in the same building as me, and I see her daily.
