This one is just odd. He had to have known about the possibility of the merger when he started in January, and if was a hired-hand to finish the merger, he would have had a package that made it worth his while.

Also, rumor was that he was on point to run the merged K-12 group post-merger (his sweet spot).

So him leaving this abruptly means either he knew what was coming and got an offer he couldn't refuse, or didn't like what he saw coming (and what he was going to have to sign his name to), and bailed to save himself.
