Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Payroll

How do I hire a shift trainee and train them , nco, lots of modules, and stay in online on payroll? I'm already 15 hours less than min.

DL says can't go over . Any ideas

And yes I'm ok with working extra ,

Already doing it - I guess I could limit them to 5 hours of modules first three weeks -

Anyone who does a minute over 45 is crazy. If you can’t get everything done within 45, WITHOUT k–ling yourself then, yes payroll is the issue. Nobody should work 15 hours for free.

Root issue is not payroll. It’s around inability or inaction when it comes to hiring and developing your talent. If every person on your team were as good as you or as good as “your right hand man,” there wouldn’t be nearly as much cause for concern. Granted, it would be tight, but not impossible in most situations. The leaders that are hiring the right talent and investing in every single one of their colleagues capabilities are not complaining about payroll. You don’t need a dm of retail to give you permission to do these things. You can spend 60 hours a week slinging truck, completing pogs, or just generally doing most everything yourself forever, or you can spend 60 hours a week for 3-6 months putting together and training the right team, and then working 45 hours a week in a place where you and your team enjoy being. The amount of negativity on here is legitimately depressing and does say a lot about how much is wrong with CVS, but change your attitude and take your store into your own hands. It really is better than the alternative. CVS isn’t out to take advantage of anyone of us. When payroll is tough, avoid placing blame elsewhere bc that doesn’t help. Look in the mirror and ask yourself if you’ve got the best team you could have? If you don’t want to spend time doing that, then you should leave for another company, but I suspect you’ll see similar issues everywhere you go. The grass isn’t greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it.

as a store manager, I completed modules for my shift trainees for the sake of saving hours.

I think the name of the game is let your store crumble. The company cuts payroll expecting the good soldier mentality to kick in. You work for free, meanwhile they bank millions of dollars. Do your job, take care of your customers and staff, but most importantly go home on time!

True story for 15 years I used all my vacation time each year just to have a cashier . No vacation for 15 years . 41 weeks given back to the company. X 1800 per week. I also have never taken a holiday but lost the pay anyway ! 6 x 15 years equals another 15 weeks . So 56 weeks back to CVS . Do not run high volume , you will be screwed. That’s 100,000 given back to company just to get the job done . Get the foooook out now!

Agreed. Leave and work for a better company. Things aren't going to get easier, they're going to get harder. Glad I've only got a week left. There's greener pastures folks. Find them. CVS doesn't give two f**ks about you. You're just another seven digit numbered slave. The DMs claim the workload can be done with a skeleton crew, I ask them "How did you do it in your store?" No answer. They've been drinking the kool-aid for too long.

Put in a sick day for yourself or a funeral day...make up a death and go to the local funeral Parlor and pick up a card or a random dead person

Just do the modules for them. Or have them do it on the iPad while they are ringing. Lots of ways to go around this. Work smart not hard.

Ultimately, what CVS wants you to do (since payroll is so tight) is to use your vacation time to cover the overages in hours. Do you have any friends within the district that aren't min hours? Maybe try convincing them to spot you a few hours to help with training.
