Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Talent Acquisition Partners??

Reading where a lot of old store HR managers are transitioning into a position that I’ve only seen as “talent acquisition partner”. Is this some kind of fancy title for area HR manager, or something else? Just curious...../

Sounds like what they basically did to those of us that used to be dept managers and then transitioned to service or support manager in early 2017—threw a lot more of responsibility on us and then a microscopic raise to go along with it. That’s when I knew the jig was up for me and I left 6 months later.

So, if I understand correctly, any HRM’s that were retained and keep their HR ‘duties’ are doing it now as an ASA and just making a lot less money? IF that is true then I would think that most of them have chosen to leave.

By making the HRMs into HRBPs, they eliminated most hr positions and like someone mentioned, replaced them with $12/hour position.

  • By 2022, the minimum wage in California will rise to $15. But the owner of a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Sacramento plans to go ahead and raise the wages of his employees now, offering a huge bump to $17 to $18 from the $12 to $13 he pays now.

This is old news and all HRMs were told they could apply for the positions once they were posted.

Actually when I was HRM I tried to do what was Fair. The problem at lowe’s Was that the HRM had no real responsibility. Had the HRM actually gotten to do the HRM job as designed it would have work, however none of it did so the HRM was just a glorified assistant to the rest of the ASM’s and SM’s. Then the job was quietly eliminated and replaced with ASA’s whom employees still refer to as HR but making a lot less money. Oh well. Thanks Marvin. I found a career elsewhere and I actually make a difference

HR doesn't work for management or the employee. They are there to protect the company from law suits.

HR was usless before anyway. They all work for management, and always protect them.

Yes, just as “People Leaders” is the new name for management of any kind. Marvin is the head People Leadet of Lowe’s.
