Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Go to The Wall for the Company...Not Anymore

I watched great employees get walked out with over 29 years and less than 30 years of service. They did whatever the company asked and ended up getting disrespected. They did not get OT for traveling 4 nights a week from kids soccer games, or get OT for weekend shows, or even recognition but saw in the past employees were always recognized with long term benefits (I.e. pension.).

After seeing the Ford family endorse Hackett’s disrespect of long term employees, don’t count on me missing a soccer game or going the extra mile, Mr. Ford.

The best part is to hear about the kiss-butt managers that treated their employees like c-ap get the ax. When you have no morals, what do you expect?

The reality lies somewhere between the ponits of the first two posts. Working hard for The Man in order to better provide for your family is noble goal and does help if done within reason, but... The Man sees you as a mere tool soon as that hard work is at coming directly at the cost to your family. IE soon as you start cutting vacations short, missing sports/concert/etc events involving your family it shows that you're a dull tool to be used up and pitched out.

One good thing about being Gen X that came of working age during the wide spread economic woes during the Carter & Reagan years is that I learned way back then that no company bigger than a local mom & pop shop has any loyalty to the employees. Those days died before most anyone reading this even started working.

What’s the saying? A good job won’t love you back.

People were not disrespecting themselves by working so hard and being so devoted. They were devoted to their jobs and doing their best to provide for their families. It’s a shame we didn’t realize the devotion wouldn’t be returned

People have only themselves to blame. Missing your family events and your kids growing up proves you disrespected them as well as yourself. So Ford was only following your lead. You exhibit no respect, you get no respect. It is the way the world works. Deal with it.
