Thread regarding Spirit AeroSystems layoffs

Spirit Aerosystems News

Any insider updates on how things are going? Any layoffs planned soon? I know that will not pop up in news feeds but wanted to see if some of you can share more info.

They want a buffer ahead also to hold for contract time. Sorry guys but contracts won't go well this time. They won't need us for a while even if there is a strike vote

I heard from some higher ups that Spirit wants more production and overtime to get some lines ahead like the 787 and 777 so the people on those lines with seniority can be moved into positions on other lines that will lose people in a layoff.

Bowing stock went up 5% when the news of the 5 billion dollar loss broke...that’s a very manageable number for Boeing and better than a lot of prior estimates. With that Boeing also announced no more production cuts and a goal of still hitting 57 mid 2020. Not saying we take what they say as gospel and not worry anymore but yesterday’s news was objectively good news for us.

With the news of 5.6 Billion loss, it's going to hit employment very hard like the old Boeing with thousands receiving pink slips before the end of the year.

Won't be layoffs for workers maybe three day work week for a couple months. Managers beware. They will need workers ready for long term when ramped up again. Short term is sketchy so they will need to do something expect after July 24th. Three or four day work week
