Ford layoffs are bad for all of us. The more people are out of work, the more saturated job market in our industry becomes. Which means that finding a good job with decent pay will become even more difficult than it is right now.
This is a huge mess, and we are all a part of it.

I have suspected for a while that all those companies GM told us about that wanted to hire the laid off GM employees was a load of BS. Has anyone ever seen this list? More lies from the “honest and transparent “ GM.
I was laid off in February and I am just getting offers now (I'm also 31 and have very strong resume).
I have had interviews since March BUT all those companies hired internally because when GM laid off thousands, it put scare onto other companies about impending recession. So everything GM said about "many companies looking to hire laid off GM employees" was utter b---s---

Guess the ones that got the tap first had the best opportunity afterall. Those would be the contractors, back in November and the twelve months leading up to it. They found their seats on the bus with low competition.
I know where I am, I've already heard hiring freeze twice in the last month. Like the prior poster mentioned, you should always have twelve months saved up if you work in this industry.
This will also have far reaching consequences for their part manufacturers and the logistics companies that move their material for them.
This is beyond Rediculous, let's hope Trump knows what he is doing, so far not good for anyone. I buy used too, I pray for all of us in our business.
I Kno you may not like this but I save at least 1 years pay or more just for this reason. When I say 1 years pay I mean basically my minimum living expenses for a year. You cannot count on these companies anymore. You have no union, no sub pay, nothing, there is no security. They will cut u in minute and there is nothing you can do. I don't buy anything new anymore, everything used and only if I absolutely need it. I will live like I am the CEO!!!
This is not good for housing prices in the area.
