Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Who has volunteered to be laid off, WITH success?

Who, and how, did you ask?

How long did it take?

Did you get a fair package?

Are you satisfied with the result?

I’m not sure if this qualifies: This week, someone on my team announced that they're retiring in June after 43 years with the company. Why would anyone retire if there’s a possibility of getting let go with the maximum amount of sub-pay? Sounds to me like they made an arrangement of some kind and called it “retiring”.

I have heard that the time of year to raise your hand is as a lead up to year end planning.... so around aug, sept, oct, nov when managers are looking at budgets and realizing they will have problems.

Not yet. Maybe be useless and see what happens. Underperform, don’t cooperate, and be annoying until they don’t want to work with you any more. Not as nice as volunteeriing to give up your job so someone else can keep theirs, but if you can get a package that way, maybe worth a try. Has anyone else tried this? Let us know if it works.

I don’t think that’s how it works. If you want to leave, go ahead and leave. If you got BE on your last review you are probably already in line to be let go.
