With all the layoffs at automotive companies lately, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the job market is over flooded with workers willing to take a new job within the range of their skills for basically any pay. Tat creates a situation where all automotive companies have the potential to lay off their workers and then hire new ones much cheaper. This is not a good time to be in this industry

There we're allot of females let go, not just men. Mary Barra uses diversity and inclusion to manipulate, it's all about greed so she plays a big dilusional mind game like all corporate does, and she is winning at it, just look at her pay!

Don't know where you worked but Pontiac GPS had patent awards internal every year.
The rest of what you are saying sounds very true though.
Think about it the big 3 are nothing more than project management hubs, all the design is farmed out to suppliers or smaller companies. When is the last time you saw anyone with a patent in engineering office? 25 years ago you would see patents awarded to engineering within the company, I rarely if ever see this anymore. Why are they going to pay 10000 people six figures for project management? It's nothing but managing suppliers through endless meetings.
I am female with multiple degrees and another diversity status and I was still let go. It all comes down to age and money in my opinion.
This also gives GM the opportunity to hire more females and affirmative action employees to meet their objectives for a more diverse workforce.
Friend coined it employee economic recycling. They squire the desperate and low experience for less than paid out before.
Especially if the replacement workers are new college hires or h1b visa people, so the replacements are as cheap as possible.
GM doesn't value knowledge or experience, just low wages.
