Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Moved out of my area in the redesign even though I had 10 people reporting to me.

I had 10 people reporting to me that are all “safe” I was told by my LL4 and LL5 they had to lose someone and they picked me. Nice. All this 4 months after reporting my LL4 for inappropriate behavior to HR. Nice to know those types of LL4s are running the company. I’ve been moved into a position I know nothing about. This is all about learning to s--- up and take whatever mistreatment is handed out. I have 29 years and would have taken the package to keep someone else from going. But this was all about punishment for my complaint. And these are the leaders we are left with.

I can sympathize with the original poster. There are some female LL employees with Ford that were only out to prove themselves. It was no ‘team’ attitude only a dysfunctional manager who cared less about my success and more about trying to make herself look good. I went to Ford HR as well and that was the worst mistake I could have ever made and will never do it again for any company going forward. I was put on a PIP and then laid off shortly after late last year.

I cannot believe that anyone thinks 29 years is a long time to be working. If you started at 21, you would only be 50.

Just ask for a severance package & let somebody else work for 29-years.

You're DAMN LUCKY you're still with the company. I'd shut up and wait out the next 365 days until you retire.

I can offer a little advice in this area. I had a unique opportunity over about 15 years to help people with situations of employer abuse. For the most part, people are good. But sometimes, there are managers that seriously abuse their authority, and employees. They act like king and queens of their own little fiefdoms.

I've seen managers try to constructively terminate, by reducing a 40 hour candidate down to 4 hours, to pressure them to quit on their own - to save on unemployment. I've seen complete disregard to pregant mothers, taking approved and protected time off, only to get fired and denied unemployment. I've seen managers fire individuals based upon random quick test random d--g tests, in a conspiracy with the medical facility, to not use chain of custody forms. The attorney absolutely buried both companies with that one. Of course there were more, but all those mentioned above were fired, severely punished, or backed down, when an intellectual that knew the rules and law pushed back.

In the case of ANYTHING corporate, for a complaint for a hire level figure, you have only a few options.

  1. You complain anonymously. (Recommended)

  2. You document and build a detailed case. If you put your name to it, you open yourself up to have to prove your complaint. You will be made to look like a non team player, even if you are right. You will not be thanked, especially if you were right all along. Whistleblowers are not well received regardless.

I've tried option 2 with a client. It was incredible work, but in the end everyone that had anything to do with that situation was fired or removed, all except the client. This went all the way up to VP level. But, you will take a huge risk sticking your neck on the line, if you state your name.

Just some random experiences I thought I would share. Their ARE actually evil people that infiltrate, and are promoted within the corporate ranks. When it comes to your livelihood, sometimes you are out into a position to make an unfortunate choice. Not because you want to, because you sometimes find yourself as the cornered animal.
