Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The UAW is next

The UAW is next for layoffs and sacrifices. Contract negotiations are in the early stages for GM & Ford, which both companies have been going through heavy restructuring efforts. People knowledgeable and close to the talks have said that Ford has been pushing back onto the UAW to make an effort to become and stay "fit". Ford and GM have made a tremendous effort to downsize for the current and future market. Both companies are working on eliminating unnecessary personnel that has little impact on current decisions and events, along with eliminating those with large salary and pensions. Newer highers do not get any pensions.

By Ford and GM practically eliminating everyone left with pensions, cleaning out their management and salary staff, they will push back on the UAW. The UAW is demanding pensions, equal pay for all, "better" medical, etc... All of which are typical demands from the Unions. Realistically pensions are a thing of the past and so are high wages for unskilled, easily trained, and replaceable employees.

The Union can cry and scream all they want about "unfair" pay. In reality many Union workers get better pay and benefits than salaried employees who usually have better / more education and necessary / useful skills needed to grow and help the company. Union workers are a dime a dozen, and unnecessary.

Many big companies assemble products without a Union and their workers were found to be happier without them. Look at Boeing, Toyota, and Tesla to name a few. Ford and GM can easily eliminate the Union and replace the workforce.

UAW is the reason we are in this mess...ford has to be very stupid to pay 75k and above..100k on average...for assembly workers. We can hire people for 40 to 50k doing the same work that is what toyota does and look how well quality of vehicles they make..resale values do not lie.

I have no doubt Ford will go to plants next but not yet. They will wait until the finish with the contract and UAW I am sure even GN will avoid anything dramatic now.they may even have to wait couple of months before they hit the axe.

GM was very aggressive and been trying to make themselves looks better after shutting plants and even threaten the Canadian auto worker union to back off.

It’s impossible to eliminate UAW jobs unless the company is bankrupt.

Sure they can eliminate these workers, basically they can eliminate all of us,skilled and skilled. And you will let them do it.. so go ahead sit home complain from your keyboard and let them do it. The next step will be all of us living in a homeless shelter c-aping on the street. I don't care if Joe blow works for 25 cents an hour in another country, if people want that then buy the cheapest product, and they to will be out of a job. Let gm/ford leave the country for all I care. They will be replaced by a company that will pay our wages here in America!!
