Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

I think there will be a layoff of lower performers at Oxy with a larger layoff from APC

I think there will be a layoff of lower performers at Oxy with a larger layoff from APC. Oxy will need to keep technical staff from GOM and the Rockies if we keep those assets. We will also want to keep the better performers from APC. This will all depend on how many people from both companies take the voluntary 55+ retirement packages. Since Oxy didn't do big layoffs during the downturn, there is still some dead wood here. We will cull some of those to keep the better performers at APC. A lot of support from APC will be let go... Management, IT, HR, finance, etc. G&G and engineering won't be hit as hard. No inside info... Just my opinion.

Found this post by @ZfL1Wht-2bfp on another thread. Does anyone else believe this? How plausable is this scenario?

If you don't know, chances are that you are a low performer.

As for the Anadarko employees, they have a lot of really good people and I hope most of them end up at Oxy. But it's always better to acquire than be acquired. Vicki obviously thinks that Oxy will operate the Permian assets better. Right or wrong, Oxy employees will get preference when there is overlap. Sad reality of working in O&G. I really feel bad for everyone on both sides that get caught up in this.

That's going to be interesting. Given Oxy and its track record, how are you going to decide the low performers? Are they the ones involved in the most amount of scandals, incompetence, failures and disasters? Also, anyone at Anadarko is already a high performer on a bases of comparison. Were not called 'Accidental Petroleum and Oxymorons for nothing.
