Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

You cant start cutting until you take a hard look at operations

The problems didn't start with Marvin. He inherited a c-appy company that had already been in the process of failing. Problem is, he tried to make easy expense cuts for short term gain. If he actually focused on operations he would have caught the cost issue with inventory and saved a lot more than the cuts got him.

You cant start cutting until you take a hard look at operations.

@ZgOcRJB-zqp hits the nail on the head. We all hoped somebody new would look at the bigger picture before making any decisions. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and we go what we got.

What if, maybe, they didn't actually care about the long-term health of the company, and were just hoping this will pump up profits (and stock) over the next year or two, so that a lot of rich people can get richer selling out?

Hypothetically, of course.

read this analysis of retail and its spot on. https://wolfstreet.com/2019/05/24/heres-how-i-think-e-commerce-is-wiping-out-brick-mortar/

"....All successful retailers spend enormous amounts on building out their e-commerce operations, including the brick-and-mortar component of e-commerce, the fulfillment infrastructure.

At the same time, they’re cutting cost at their brick-and-mortar operations, trimming inventories and staff and closing stores, and making it more inconvenient, more time-consuming, and more frustrating to buy at these stores....."

"....But in reality, it has become a self-fulfilling prophesy: As more people buy online, retailers cut their expenses at their stores by cutting inventories and staff and letting their stores deteriorate, which turns more people off and sends them online, and so retailers respond with more cost cuts at their stores, including shutting stores, which sends even more people online....."
