The severance money is being spent on legal fees. I never counted on severance. Too bad so many people couldn't see the light and actually thought they were going to get all or part of their severance.

From the linked article:

"In a court filing, Lampert's representatives accused Sears Holdings of failing to deliver "hundreds of millions of dollars of assets" it had promised as part of the deal to save the company from total liquidation. Those assets were earmarked to make the severance payments."

Eddie is blaming Sears Holdings for not having the money he stole from them.
