What do we know so far...

Winter IS coming and there aren't enough coats to go around for all the functions not linked directly to assets kept... such as IT, HR, Accounting & Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, facilities. All these folks have built up lives around the extreme generosity of APC base pay, bonus, and stock. There aren't enough jobs out there in O&G operator job boards for them all to run to and keep the same level of base, bonus, and stock. Sure they can go out and get other jobs but they wont pay nearly the same nor offer anywhere near the same level and quality of benefits. And the precious 9/80....a luxury that will disappear unless you decide to move to DFW and work in the defense industry....who by the way also does not offer the same level of pay and benefits of APC. The night king is coming, be prepared.
Leave it to AAET to write code speculating on something that they have no control over, probably on company time.
Seriously Oxy, don’t fall in to RAW’s trap and realize the pointlessness of that group.
I’m not worried about winter coming, I have a coat. Thanks
This is all part of the O&G business, quit acting like the sky is falling.
Either way winter is coming...get ready
What email?
'Just got an email from Glen Vangolen (in charge of acquisition)... the plans to move to the COP offices on the West side has been put on hold. Maybe you APC guys can stay put? :) In any case, Oxy is looking at options, I've heard we may stay here in Greenway Plaza as well.
I agree with the last post. We are going to be hit hard from both sides. Oxy and APC people are both going to get hit. I think Oxy will try to bring over the best from APC and replace some of our own 55 plus and low performers. It only makes sense to utilize the best from both companies to end up with a better Oxy.
Oxy employee here. Short term, they will have to use the Woodlands tower. Not enough space at Greenway or at the new campus. I bet GOM and Rockies stay in the Woodlands, and whoever else doesn't overlap Oxy current assets. They will send some upper level managers there to begin integrating the assets. They have the land, but it will be at least a year before they can build out another building on Dairy Ashford.
So sorry for all the APC people who will be affected by this. The APC people who have interviewed at Oxy in the past are all top-notch. And sorry for the Oxy people who will get let go too, because there will be a number of us let go too. Most of us don't like this deal either. Consolidation is bad for everyone who works in this industry. Fewer jobs all around. It makes me sick thinking about all the worry and misery this will cause and has already caused. Good luck to all of us.
LOL maybe they live in Richmond.
heard someone high up in Oxy was told. "get ready to start driving north."
My bet is is that Oxy moves the midland office to Houston to not pay an additional 25% for employees to provide no benefit for people stuck out here. They probably won’t even want to pay 10% and will want to consolidate Permian in Houston.
AAET engineer here, I’ve written some code, and worked out an MVA on this. Statistically speaking there’s a likelihood that we will either stay here in The Woodlands campus or move to the soon to be newly renovated COP campus. I’ve had similar outcomes in my rapid basin evaluations. It can really go either way.
Oxy just builds another building on the Katy campus after selling off other buildings. They bought Conoco buildings because most people working for Oxy live out that way. The campus is being renovated and will be very nice. If you stay with Oxy just get use to the fact you will be spending 3 to 4 hours commuting daily just like many of the people in The Woodlands do now. When Anadarko moved to The Woodlands it was great for the people that lived there, but a lot of people commute to APC in The Woodlands.
For the near future I think Oxy will use whatever real estate a available, but in the long-term the Oxy campus will be where everyone ends up that has an office job in Houston and The Woodlands.
You will certainly be moving. Moving to a new job, if you are lucky, after you get the axe. Or maybe moving to an efficiency apartment after wifey leaves you for being such a loser.
Obviously written by a woodlands staffer chasing their own version of Camelot.
This BS. Don’t believe any of it.
Did this information come from a specific source?
Field oriented staff stay in Midland. Technical teams move to Woodlands. Denver office expands field office and moves out of granite for next year sale. Katy is too full and oxy consolidates Permian workforce and GOM in woodlands.
Calling it.
