Gravitating around 6 primary metropolitan areas

Here's what I was told by my boss in Basking Ridge: They are going to gravitate around 6 primary metropolitan areas now. Boston, Basking Ridge, Alpharetta, Irving, and San Francisco. They will cap any further expansion elsewhere and work to eventually close those facilities through attrition, automation, and retirement incentives. Starting in 2020.

Info provided by @ZmTi4C8-1uzy.

I’m in Ashburn, hoping to retire in 2023 but if they are looking to close down our location and offer another VSP in 2020 or later I’d seriously consider an earlier departure.

I think it's just speculation based on the future in the northeast is Boston, not BR. That's where the innovation labs and hosting of MIT and other college student projects and vendor labs, etc will be located.

@ZojVrBD-bbgs Whats the reason behind BR execs relocating? Isn't Boston even more expensive than BR

I was just told something similar by my VP.

BR is capped, no more new hires without significant justification, they are 1000 cars over capacity.

Waltham is closing in 2021 and there's a new building in Boston at North Station under construction for VZ. It will be approx 34 floors, with first 5 for retail. Everyone with a tech job in the MA/NH area will move to Boston, others non-tech may go to Lowell call center. It's possible many BR execs will relocate to Boston. Boston capacity is approx 2600.

"Talent Hubs" will be Boston, new building across from 500-600 Hidden Ridge in Irving, TX, Colorado (don't know exactly where), Ashburn, VA, and one each in Northern and Southern CA.

BR itself is on the chopping block. What a dumb location for an HQ.

Given that it's in year five of a twenty year leaseback contract, that's highly unlikely.

I over heard a market pres. Referring to this. He referenced "Global Verizon" multiple times. What I overheard was a giant office in San Jose for some reason and then closing Irvine, Denver and Schaumburg. Or rather "I didn't see them on the list". That was roughly a month ago so things may have changed.
