Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

USA age discrimination - not likely as they are very careful

hard to prove.......

If you think you’ve been a victim of discrimination, retain an employment lawyer. (The National Employment Lawyer Association at www.nela.org can help you find a lawyer near you.) If you can’t afford to hire someone, contact the AARP Volunteer Legal Review Program. Mail a detailed letter to P.O. Box 50228-M03, Washington, DC 20091-0228, or send an email to litigation@ aarp.org. A volunteer attorney will assess your case.

I am post menopausal with thyroid disease. The biometrics are not only ageist but s-xist. Men on the whole lose weight way faster than women do.

I made the biometrics two years in a row but what happens as your body adjusts, is it becomes even harder to get to the next 2%.

I gained over 50 pounds in the last 2 decades due to Honeywell subjecting me to sleep deprivation, overtime and globalization. Plus Honeywell de facto placed me in a cage tethered to a Skype phone.

In the pre-global days, we walked between meetings. My site has no gym. I do get in 10000 steps but a slowed metabolism needs more and more work as we age.

I have EEI OT each week. Add onto that telecons at night and early morning. Telecon at 10 pm, another at midnight. Go to bed and wake up at 5 for Puerto Rico, and a different India one at 7 am.

Yes, that’s 4 hours of sleep. The less sleep, the more cortisol is released and the higher the chance of diabetes, high bp, stroke, weight gain.

I stopped using HON’s insurance for this reason. My husband’s asks for biometrics from the employee only, and does not penalize; they reduce premiums just for reporting the numbers.

Older workers could soon find it easier to prove age discrimination. The House Education and Labor Committee voted on Tuesday to approve the Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act (POWADA).

The bill, which moves next to the full House and then the Senate, would reverse a 2009 Supreme Court decision, Gross v. FBL Financial Services, which required workers to prove that their age was the main factor in an employer’s decision to discipline, fire or not hire them.

A smart lawyer would figure out that the biometric data limits are inherently discriminatory against older workers that have a slower metabolism than younger workers. But what do I know? I’m just a dumb employee.

Don't listen to these guys. Their job is to discourage you from approaching a lawyer and filing a lawsuit. File the complaint with EEOC and get a lawyer.

Use an expert to navigate through the regulatory process. Don't rely on hearsay and other monkey-pundits who have never seen a lawyer or a court in real life. They base their opinions on TV shows and other monkey-say pundit opinions.

Why always the single MOM thing?

How about just SINGLE PARENT.

Because there are single dad's,

because all marriages end in:

  1. Divorce

or

  1. Death

many sites had child case back in the 90's. Some locations like florida had a K-3rd public school onsite and the kids would eat lunch with parents one day a week or so. It was nice. Leading companies still offer these perks and much more. Perks vary widely by location. For the longest time food was free in India and China. I think there is a modest fee now .. still a far cry from a wall full of vending machines you will find in Tucson.... honeywell leaders wonder why everyone left for Raytheon? are you kidding me....enjoy the view with your vending machine sandwich.

You have to file a complaint with the EEOC first. If they sanction your complaint then you can hire a lawyer. Ain't gonna work. HON lawyers and the phonied up reviews will prevail every time. HON has age discrimination down to a science -- they've been doing it for years. On top of that you'd probably be blacklisted from working as a contractor. Just walk away.

If you are female a better path might be s-x discrimination claim around mandatory overtime without accommodations for children. Back in the day Honeywell used to offer onsite child care.
