Any Other Bakery 1 Part timers not know how to bake

So the part timers in Bakery will now bake when the main one is off . These guys have never baked . Upper management thinks it is no big deal just follow the iPad . Anyone can do it so they say . All they have to do is pull up the recipes on FST and it tells them exactly what to do —they don’t need training .

I was the baker for 11 years, got out just in time because the bake doubled after I left. It is a very tough job especially when you have NO help. The girls still come to me and tell me how bad it has gotten and the mangers don't give a sh-- ,your tucked in the back of the club and forgotten about until a member complains about an order not done because your overwhelmed with the dumb people ordering cakes that ask well what do you think, I don't care it's not my cake just pick a color and don't keep me here making your decisions for a half hour. We have real work to do like wrap and fill the racks before another members comes in asking were the bread is at, or can I have a cake done now without placing a order! Bakery is one of the hardest positions in the club and if anyone disagrees with me try it instead of wandering around the club doing nothing but talking and taking another half hour break. That's why they are so shorthanded the smart ones know it's alot of work so they take the easy way out. I do miss it sometimes ,but am still glad I moved on to another dept.

Hey don’t forget about the truck who’s doing it the team lead the bakers? Not so easy when your trying to bake, answer the phone, pass out cakes put away Bunzel. These trucks are not separated by departments and they are 10 feet tall unload it separate and stock, o yes don’t forget about categories like 37 that also needs to be done. Whoever thinks the Bakery is simple and mindless I invite you to give it a try. Also I would like to add vine people that’s a joke they are supposed to be coming in to train no so much they complain that the label is not on straight and talk trash about the color of your skin you go to your manager and tell them about the racist vine representative and nothing is done.

I’m so sorry to say Sams Club is going down fast just wait and see.

Every one in my bakery can bake just fine, even the decoraters and the team lead.

I've worked in the Bakery for roughly four years. We spend a lot of time baking items that just get tossed (donated) it's a ridiculous cycle. Nevermind knowing your department and knowing what does / doesn't sell, we must follow those company set levels!

To the baker's posting, stop trying to make it seem like our jobs are super complicated. Certain things have gotten way easier then they use to be but let's be honest here, we bake, we fill the floor, we have minimumal member interaction (As long as there is a cake decorator and such they take the orders) and we are left to ourselves. I came from the front end which is a 100 times more stressful/work then the Bakery. I enjoy clocking in, turning on my music, baking and spending time with my fellow baking ladies as we chit chat.

The problem is that they should be training the PT’s now to be ready for the June 22 roll out. While the lead and FM should be making sure the training with the FT Baker is going on TODAY, the PT that has been told they will be baking some days should already be asking and learning on their own. Never wait to be trained and then say no one trained you. While it’s not right to not have mgm envolved with this training, it’s not going to be an excuse eventually when the PT claims they do not know how to bake.

Don't assume it is easy unless yu have done it. Things are never that straightforward.

trainable job , any monkey can do it. Just watch the video. While this may be true it is also true that while you can easily learn to do something it is a different matter to do it well. Doing it well requires skill. Skill take time. They are not giving us time. Failure is imminent.

Well they need to hurry with the par baked breads , cookies , muffins , pies , danishs. Because these part timers that they say just needs the iPad to do the job need it quickly . Can not wait till that day that the part timer bakes and management asks where is the product on the floor . And why is this pie not completely cooked on the bottom . And why are the breads not constant in color & bake .

Go to the bakery and see how you can do it . You have to not only bake the product but wrap what you bake , keep the sales floor full , wait on members ,break out the product for the next day and Lord and behold don’t forget the iPad. ,. There is no other associate helping you .

48 to replaces all bakers.

There are quite a few clubs out there that do not have bakeries.

Those of us, who are not a part of the elite, who have actually baked, know it's not that simple.

That's the beauty of every job at Sam's. All the positions are trainable positions. No degree necessary, hence why we are ALL replaceable.

You take things out of the freezer, stick them on a tray, stick them in the oven, let them cool, then package them.

Clearly you need a master's degree to accomplish such tasks.

No its putting frozen stuff in a oven. Thaw it, stick it on a rack and roll it into a oven. Decorators are a different story they actually can do something that not just anyone can do.

Can you show us your degree in baking? It's putting stuff in an oven for an agreed amount of time, get over yourself.
