"The executive ranks should be completely gutted of people with long HDD backgrounds because they're blind to the realities of today."
Seagate has been almost exclusively focused on HDD, so gutting the ranks of these executives is equivalent to gutting the company. Seagate really has no second act. At best, they can license the name to more competent actors in storage sectors that still have a future. Sit back and watch the slow decline.
Completely agree with ZrPgZba-9qqt. The executive ranks should be completely gutted of people with long HDD backgrounds because they're blind to the realities of today. All of them are hard wired to think hard drives are still the future and all of them lack any drive for innovation or growth. The only thing any of the execs care about is hitting quarterly numbers and what they're going to tell 'The Street'. It is crazy seeing a technology company that has no focus on actual technology.
It might be too late but the board should fire the CEO immediate and install a strategic CEO who can point the company in a direction that is not a hard drive. Then, fire all of the direct staff of the CEO, maybe keep some of the new ones but all the Seagate lifers have to go, they do not know how to transform the company. What to do? Wait it out and hope this difficult change will happen, or take control of your career and move on because it is 1 in a million that any of the above happens. Seagate does not care about your career and just their paychecks, move on.
So whats your solution? We all quit?
Let's face it, no one is creating economic value. We are all running old processes base on old thinking. Look at the financial s and you will see a company propped up by Debt and buybacks, and we cannot get a transformational product out the door. HAMR will have a small market and Seagate will continue to become smaller. All of those who have challenged this value destroying environment have been RIF'd by those seeking to protect their executive jobs and these execs are supported by the wrong CEO for the job.
Good. There’s to many people who spend all day listening to themselves talk in meetings that produce no economic value.
Sounds like lots of fun !
LCO, TCO, WUX, Korat, SSDC and RMO

"24TB HANR drive coming soon"
Do you mean a 24 TB HAMR demo, or a 24 TB HAMR product? There's a world of difference between the two, although some people forget that little fact.
Layoffs are always imminent at Seagate.
