Now that the massive layoff with severance has passed, can’t help but wonder if and when the corporate grim reaper will come around again. Anyone hear anything?

I would say Q4 as always. The Verizon home for the holidays program is still going strong as it has been for years. Last round of VSP'ers are not off the books until the end of the month so the dust has not settled on that yet either.
Not pro union, just anti Verizon. The place is a human meat grinder.
I wouldn't even worry about it. Just keep going to work and doing the right thing. Ride this ship as far as if will take you and ignore all of the pro union fear mongers here. Their speculations are just that... speculation with no fact.
As long as you know that you're doing the right thing, then your worst case scenario is collecting unemployment.
