Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

UHC to lay off at least 500 employees

I am a former employee of UHC. I have friends who still work there, all have 10-20 years with the company. They are being told that there will be layoffs in provider services department very soon. They are being given the opportunity to apply for other positions within the company. If they cannot find another position, they will be laid off. UHC is laying off at least 500 employees and moving these positions off shore.

Bumped from @VTpwnt1-3Agon for important info.

9+ years with the Company. Let go in the last 48 as part of a WF reduction.
All I can say is that its the same sad song. Look at it like this, I am sure alot of us learned to swim with the sharks there even if we were little fish trying to survive..
Smart providers will value this experience and ability.
We know how to cut to the front of the line , shake things up and get things done. Someone somewhere will pay for that and I am going to enjoy taking a bite out of "Responsible Parties" a– on a daily basis. Every time they screw up, gonna be there to make them actually regret it. We can arm our new employers with the same abilities. This be be done professionally and with a smile. I think its an opportunity, many of us would have just withered away on c-ap money and even worse benefits. Hang in there, dont give up.

Luckily, I didn’t get the axe yesterday like 100 people I heard did....4 of them from my team. Praying I’m not next. I’m in OPIR and I know tons are going offshore. It’s true, the power is held by providers. I work in Community and State and some states/providers like TN require employees to reside in TN. I would be happy if they just said US...But I’m sure the fee for this stipulation is outrageous.

Worked at Humana same issue. They don't rehire or they wait 6 or more weeks after you leave to offer a position much less desireable. What is the reasoning behind this; not taking care of your own. I don't get it.

True. If you are getting laid off, the chances are 90% you will not get a job internally.

We need to start having our provider advocate for us. We all know they hate UHC's offshore reps. We need to somehow get the word out to them. The providers have the real power and if they start threatening to pull their contracts the powers at be may reverse their thinking. Has anyone contacted CNBC? I say CNBC because this decision to layoff onshore reps is purely monetary but it will back fire. Get the stock holders weary of the future. That's the only way to win.

So true, because the hiring process is horrible. For any chance at all the hiring manager needs to know who you are and have been recommended by other than HR. But other companies think very highly of UHC employees. We are all replaceable.
