I believe Lowes will turn Pse in Depot 2.0...why not when we have done that to everything else. Pse has been a very successful program, but hey why stop copying now Marv? Oh God Bless.

Rumors flying now that PSE is going away quicker. I’m already taking a good sting having lost HVAC as that category was $500k of my prior year.
Here is the logic. HomeDepot sells HVAC directly through their installers so obviously if they can do it...
I hadn’t been paying much attention to the HVAC leafs especially since I can’t run them anymore but yesterday I sat in on a specialist meeting and was stunned to hear that not a single lead from my store actually sold this last quarter. I know it’s the off season in my area but come on. I’ve sold every winter for the last 5.
So the deal HD has with my old installer is something like 9% margin back to Lowes for the lead. Ours was higher and paid the PSE 4% so net to Lowes was close or slightly less than what HD is getting.
So fast forward to today - Lowe’s is now keeping a larger percentage of the margin. Only problem is that they’ve lost the majority of the business (in my area anyhow).
I also wouldn’t put it past the installer to work their own deal and cut Lowe’s out completely to save a deal. I’m don’t know that they are but what’s to stop them without a PSE selling the job in the store.
It really is a shame - it is the best job at Lowe’s even with all the BS and even though, I know several who are working on plan B or exit strategies.
Is Lowe's going to really discontinue the PSE program? So far at our store we still have the generators going for us. It seems like they are really pushing windows and doors. It's sad to see something good go down. I feel like the PSI program was not properly handled. It is a constant issue that the installers was not contacting the customer and not reporting any damaged materials til time for them to install or afterwards. I enjoy being part of the program being a coordinator but it's not just Lowe's laying off but retail in general. I'm trying to hang on to hope that this program will still exist. All we can do is pray and pray that Marvin is doing the best he can for Lowe's.
Ive been a PSE for a while now and I've got to say that if you can actually sell, this is one of the best jobs in the industry. The pricing and name brand make it so that any average joe could put up $800k a year. Ive worked for multiple other companies doing in home sales for remodeling and every place I went I got jerked around. Lowes will actually pay you what youre supposed to get. And whats better is that you dont have to wait two to three months to get paid on a project. As far as HVAC goes, I say do away with it. The commission is low and guys who couldn't sell sh– to a toilet still put up decent numbers all because the vendor rep does all the selling! Its ridiculous.
PSE'S are seeing the handwriting on the wall and they are finding new employment opportunities. They know it's a train wreck. Leave before you get the severance option. If you can find something else, do it!
And it's official!! We're losing HVAC.
30 percent! I guess they are trying to make the money back they lost by installing roofa and selling shingles under cost! I can not fathom how ignorant, yes they just don't know, these "business" people are! They know how to present a lie to the investment groups to get the job!
Roofing from 15% to?
Now roofing margin is going up...that “Christian” Marvin said last year he thought we had too high margin on labor...like everything else that comes out of his mouth its a blatant lie. Now we have Paul Wyman on to sink the ship....Depot 2.0
Last year I was there I made way less than the three prior years. Changes that made that happen? CPO,ceo, margin increases, unrestrained cost increases.
Pella alone went up 15%. On that, Pella raised prices to Lowes by 3.5%, Lowes took the opportunity to go up a lot more. In my area we have a Pella dealer and 4 installation companies. Two of the installation companies buy from the dealer and were still cheaper than us. Couple that with Lowes current rep and it was impossible to sell. Margin on window labor needed to be 38% to make pay, margin minimum in all categories increased every year and costs from installers as well. Took all help from us too.
"They would follow me to see why I succeeded and change everything I did"
I was a PSE since the beginning. I left as well this year. It is a disaster. Crazy to see how it has gone into a nosedive. Each area, state, customer base, product needs and salesperson.....are different. They should not be rubbing it all the same and from a central office.
Couple those issues with store and third party delivery issues.....all you have are too many hands in the pot....recipe for bad service and non-stop issues.
im sad to report, and been in trenches since 2012, that blowes is done.
they have reached critical mass, and a pt of no return. its over in every regard.
start looking people. everyone
"Just found out today that they are going to drop HVAC and Generators from the program, and add Doors????? This is a punch in the gut. I sell A LOT of HVAC's. This will be a HUGE pay cut for PSE's when we lose this category."
Was visiting my cousin next state over, went to Lowe's for a few things.
They had these two young women, each dressed in a Lowe's Installer shirt, who work for a local HVAC company, wandering the store looking for leads.
I'd say the above speculation about HVAC is accurate.

Doors??? What a joke. Most customers buy Stock doors. Not worth a PSE's time.
Yes totally agree! Have people who have never done it telling us how to do it...just amazing! We hire people like Tom M to be RSVP of sales and he couldn’t sell if he wanted too. Lowes hires all number crunching micro managers to dictate how there professional salesman...the Pse should sell. These people are more a hindrance than anything. Too Marvin and Joe a Pse is just a bloated salary not realistic they actually earn there income the hard way unlike them. I believe it will be windows and doors only soon.
Left as PSE this February. 10 years as PSE was there from being. They were working very hard to make it fail every chance they got. They told us to make the business our own. To run it like a “business within a business “. Then they dropped rules galore. Measure poke and prod. I loved the job.
Toward the end of my time they were telling us how to shake hands and gave us scripts for calls and precalls. We were even told to wear socks without holes.
They would follow me to see why I succeeded and change everything I did.
They stopped training. They started micromanagement. I saw the end coming. It’s toast. They’re done. Look for end this year.
