Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

AIG Outsourcing to India 🇮🇳

Some positions have already been moved to India from the Finance area. The Timeline probably is now and until one year from now. Hopefully they give people an early heads up when there position is migrating to India.

Best place to check is AIG career section and see what positions are being offered in India, then you know your position will be in India soon.

At the end of the day, AIG needs to bring down expenses to compete with Industry peers. The quickest way is to outsource positions overseas to low cost area.

As for IT area, which have taken major cost cutting hits will more likely have more cuts and any major projects will be done consultant companies. IT workers at AIG will be just lights on and lights off people.

They pay consultants 350 an hr and up to RIF people making $40 hr to outsource for $25 hr.....

It was mentioned that lights on support would stay. I question that as well. I can't imagine them eventually keeping anyone under Grade 24 regarding IT BAU support. Much of the work is already being performed by vendors and managed by AIG, especially on the application side. I won't comment on the level or quality of that support, only that this is the model in place. This is primed to be outsourced to the vendors and it's only a matter of time.

Yes, you are right. THey never talk about reducing Grade 25+ salaries, do they? And they have money for private jets so execs don't have to fly with the common folk.

I am sure moving everything to India will work fine. I can't understand most of them, and most don't have a clue of what they're doing. Swapping jobs 1-1 from US to India is laughable.
