Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Are we just going to watch and do nothing?

Many people stood by and watched when companies crumbled. The silence at DXC is deafening. Are we just going to allow one Reckless leader take this company to the ground?

What’s happening is outrageous. Aren’t there government or regulators who would care about what’s happening ?

I feel helpless.

I keep imagining a mainstream-press expose on what's going on and how Lawrie does things, perhaps as a prime example of modern American corporate life. But I don't know how to cause that to be written (I'm talking actual investigative business journalism, not planting fake news). It's just one thing.

What can we grunts do? Not a dam thing but our jobs. For me I do a lot less than I used to do because of no salary increases in years. I am losing at least 3% buying power a year, so I cut my work time as well

50% loss in stock value in the last 12 months says it all.

From a manager point of view, helpless is a feeling. Don't diminish anyone for caring. When you have a 100 employees and their lives are impacted because of some Mad King, these people have lives, children to feed, some of them are in countries that it's not easy to get a job. When the end customers are being impacted - hospitals, airlines - these are people's lives.

Let it fail, won't be the first or last. Someone will fill their pockets and won't be you or I? Loyalty and DXC do not go together. If you can leave before the bricks hit you on the head.

Not our problem if the shareholders, customers lose their own money, reputation, just look out for yourself and ones family from now on - even if you get WFR then look forward to future without DXC and less stress

"I feel helpless"

Positioning yourself better will help make you feel empowered. You definitely cannot expect help from DXC to do so. Training, certifications, etc.

Samson David stood up in a town hall this MORNING and said the customers were all happy with DXC and talked about all the HIRING they are doing.

Mikey knows exactly what he is doing - it's been his plan to drive this company into the ground and sell it off all along and anyone who thinks otherwise is dillusional.

Here's the survival list in today's IT:

  • You can read documentation (any language)

  • Under 30

  • Happy with £22K per annum

if you want more, do another job - Deliveroo perhaps

The customer feedback loop is too slow for DXC to catch on. We are laying the ground work for massive problems in next few quarters.

Money talks. Employees cost money and getting rid of us shows a profit. Therefore we have no voice. Customers have some voice in that they can leave in droves (which they are doing), but it takes a while for the revenue stream to catch up to cost cutting so there can be a lag with customers voices. The only voices that truly matter are stockholders and the Board of Directors and they will not say anything until they lose money. The fact is that the ones who matter will not take any action until long after the damage with employees and customers is done and then the action they will take is to move on to the next investment and probably enjoy a big tax write-off from the fiasco. Everyone has to look out for themselves as the system is not set up for us to all be in this together.

The unfortunate truth is that the leaders don’t listen. Is this because they don’t care or that actually, they know exactly what they are doing and are executing a plan? The fact that we don’t agree with that plan because of the impact that it has on us is irrelevant. The people who should care and who can do something, unless they are also aware of the master plan, are the institutional shareholders. Unless they are prepared to get involved then there is very little that we can do as mere employees.
