A lot of rumors coming out that Tampa is next on the chopping block. A lot of people from Pittsburgh transferred to Tampa and they overwhelmingly agree that unionizing is the only chance to save your jobs. A lot of employees don't know this, but Pittsburgh had several Verizon call centers. The only one that remains open is the unionized center. Nows the time or before you know it, you'll be one of thousands looking for a similar job.

Nice try! The only thing going on in the TPA Call Center right now is being busy from shift start to shift end ever since the new shifts started the end of April. Not sure where this rumor is coming from. Unions have never been able to guaranty job security... ex: the auto industry. Anything can happen, but unionizing will not be one of them.
Unionizing won't prevent a closure, just the hours and pay and work conditions. They can't stop the closing.
Florida is a right to work state. If they want you gone, you will be gone. They don’t have to have a reason or any documentation leading up to termination.
Pittsburgh transplants to Tampa love that they moved. They hated the winter there and love the beaches here! Union, what a joke! Pay them from my hard earned money to do nothing but promise things they can't deliver on in order to keep THEIR OWN job.. Verizon employees aren't dummies and they've seen first hand the broken promises that unions have made before. Unions defnitely have advantages in industries like construction, teaching, etc.. so incredibly useless in telecommunications or tech companies!
It is hard to unionize a job that anyone age 16-75 can do. Your job is talking on a phone.
Think about that long and hard. Then think about how well paid you are considering other skilless jobs in your city. This is why nobody leaves Verizon
When was the last time you heard of a VZW call center going union? Good luck trying! VZW management will not let Wireless call centers to unionize. Really...what can a union do if VZW reorganizes departments and closes call centers.. Nothing!
Why don't you just be honest and say, "I am a paid union organizer and need people to join to justify my $100k + salary. I will resort to fear tactics to accomplish my goal. But I won't deliver on my promises."

Unlikely since Tampa is a bilingual call center with Telesales. If any of the centers is on the chopping block it would be Murfreesboro. Murfreesboro is not a bilingual center and it does not have Telesales.
companies hate unions
i work for at&t and union will not save your job what they will do is take money out of your pocket on a biweekly basis and when the company wants to fire your a--, guess what? dont let the door hit you in the a-- on the way out
only a couple of good unions out there, and in the telecommunication business we do not have any of the good ones
