Oracle revokes offers in the UK

According to Business Insider: Oracle has revoked offers for some people in the U.K., blaiming a hiring freeze.

Way to go to get good publicity and great general goodwill.

You guys still think oracle is doing great?

You are yelling into a wall bud.

Yeah, but it's a great wall. It's teaming with people who feel exactly the way I do. People who have been screwed over by corrupt Oracle management.

This forum is great.

It’s almost funny, but quite frankly very sick and sickening how some people so desperately try to justify oracle unethical behavior.

Goons paid by Oracle, people with no morals and ethics, or just plain blind oracle loyalists?

Bull...., a company can resend offer, as can employee. It happened recently where offer was made, all the staging to onboard new employee completed and phone call on weekend prior to start ....sorry. I myself had accepted a position and went to work, name on the door, corner office, all the office hardware in place. Only to be made a better offer by another company. At which point I said sorry, can’t refuse.

It's a small world, don't burn too many bridges.

All emotions aside, the bottom line is: companies that are well managed and are doing well financially don’t rescind offers. They have no business needs to do so and they value their reputations too much, plus they probably treat people like people - that’s an important element in making them successful.

As the saying goes, all happy families are alike, all unhappy families are each unhappy in their own way. They same goes for company behavior.

It is very unethical for companies in general to rescind job offers considering those candidates may have had other job offers lined up that they turned down already in favor of that one offer.

Is it better to onboard you for a week then give you the pink slip? How would that look on your resume? The outcome is the same, but I rather they just rescind the offer and I move on. In general, once you accept an offer, they can't rescind the offer, you just get laid off. If you burn your other job offers before you formally accept one, then it's on you.

It is very unethical for companies in general to rescind job offers considering those candidates may have had other job offers lined up that they turned down already in favor of that one offer. It could be that job offers were rescinded because candidates lied about their qualifications (degree, licenses, work experience, etc.) or may have a criminal background that they failed to reveal but turned up at the last minute. Companies are not allowed to reveal personal data so they cannot speak up to defend in public why those offers were rescinded. Unfortunately, companies do make offers without complete background check as they trust candidates to be truthful in what they put on their applications.

I don’t think anyone said “the sky is falling”. I believe someone reported that offers were revoked, that is all. I suspect that someone is attempting to stir the pot into thinking that many posters here have no real basis, are id--ts, lazy, and by their very nature should not even be employed at Oracle. Stir the troll.

Unbelievably stupid and unethical to make people offers and the rescind then. May the 3 stooges burn in hell.
