Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

I've been with the organization for almost 9 years

I've been with the organization for almost 9 years. I am a director and have had a great career with UOP and also seen a lot of unacceptable behaviors and company politics that are shocking. Some have been with"business need" in mind and others have been just self-serving. I do not plan to stay around much longer as I have decided to stay home with my children. My husband and I decided to live by th "Dave Ramsey" method several years ago and got ourselves into a position where it doesn't matter as much about how much you make but more about how much it costs to pay your bills. Fortunately, I am no longer driven by my director salary and I have spent the last year with the company really trying to embrace the "new mindset" the organization trains to, but must admit, it's a struggle when corporate is saying one thing but your local campus leadership is demanding another. I am no longer willing to put the advisors in jeopardy or ask the, to. Ot have balance and peace in their lives so that we can meet the ending enrollment expectations set forth by our CD's and VPs. I wonder if anyone on here has heard or knows anything about upcoming layoffs? I hear they could be as early as next week and could involve more director positions and above. I'm at peace with whatever. Honestly, the. Ompany really doesn't need to be paying so many directors six figure salaries to do what we do. It's not that hard. Managers and advisors have the hardest jobs and are more directly tied to the students. If the company was strategic, they would get rid of this layer and focus more on training their advisors and managers and bring in some trainers that are not directly tied to the campus' initiatives or goals so that real issues can be brought to light and addressed and lack of work or low performance can be developed or held accountable more efficiently. It seems like the director position is more of an over paid cheerleader/dreamer position with little insight to what is really going on. Most directors say they are too busy with "reports" to actually spend time with the teams. I know, I AMA director and have worked with many and hear it all the time. Th thing is, if they would minimize how many reports thy are looking at on a consistent basis they would have time to actually work on some of the issues that are identified in the freaking reports they are constantly running & analyzing. I try to spend time with my teams and have just lulled myself out of a lot of that crao and my teams are happy and productive. Honestly though, I'm ready to pass this baton and move on with my life. Been an interesting ride, but exhausting nonetheless! Bring on Project Foresight. I'm interested to see what the executives have come up with and if they get it right this time. I just pray they don't fire our good people that work hard everyday and actually have pride in their jobs.
