Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

@Retention. If you are one of the long term Heald faculty members prior to the arrival of Corinthian then Heald is most likely just "extra spending money". As a "freeway flyer" then it is quite likely that the majority of your income comes from teaching at the local community college. Also you are probably very close to retirement and if you lose your Heald job then "it is no big deal". That is the point being that YOU are QUITE LIKELY to lose your Heald job over the next year. The loss of Cal Grants is having a HUGE impact on future enrollments. It is pretty hard for the sales people to convincingly explain to prospective students that such a "fine institution" such as Heald has been deemed unworthy by the state of California for financial aid. The other big problem is that the Heald graduates over the last 2 years can't find jobs. The Heald graduates of the last 2 years are going back to their former High Schools telling students "Don't waste your time at Heald". Some of the sales people are so far off from their enrollment quotas that another revolving door of layoffs in sales is occuring. Noone in Administration is ecstatic about telling the sales, FA and faculty that layoffs are around the corner. It looks like that the October enrollments will be down a minimum of 20% from last year. Also the Cal Grant people have told Heald that it is ineligible from Cal Grants for a MINIMUM of TWO years and NOT the one year that Heald has been representing to the staff and students. If you are a long term instructor in a nonimpacted field then you might not be noticing Heald's problems. You are likely to notice them sooner than you might think as the enrollment is starting to drop BIG TIME. If you are in technology then it is only a matter of time as Heald is abandoning IT.
