Heald was becoming "shitty" (sorry for the crude English) even in the late 1990s. Then it was sold off to some investors in 2007 who did put some money into Heald before it was sold off to Cornthian in 2009. Ever since 2010, Heald has been run into the ground. Now you have had 2 years under the CCI regime with Heald graduates unable to find jobs and perhaps more important becoming pretty substantial negative advertising. Heald has just laid off a bunch of counselors because of "lack of production". The "lack of production" should be obvious an overpriced over $20K product vastly inferior to a product that costs an order of magnitude less being under $2K at the local community college. The 4th quarterly annual report which can be viewed at CCI dot edu along with the transcript of the investor call at seekingalpha dot com makes some wildly optimistic assumptions. The wild assumptions include : 1. Our enrollment will be steady for the upcoming quarters. 2. With regards to Heald, the claim is made that the loss of Cal Grants is not impacting enrollments. With regards to 2, the Heald counselors that I talk to are telling me that the exact opposite is occurring being more and more ups (prospective suckers oops students) telling Heald "Sorry, I am not going into more debt for a school".
