Some of the biggest offenders in the for-profit industry are regionally accredited, and that doesn't seem to make a difference. Government efforts to regulate the industry were largely deflated by the industry's lobbyists. Consumers of for-profit education don't do their research, and only complain when the time comes to start paying back their loans. All in all, I'd rather tell people I teach for Heald than for Penn State.
