Qualcomm is a weird beast when it comes to layoffs, almost always they are hidden and you will not hear about them. Also, almost always they are driven by individual's performance or the business unit performance - the management is very sensitive to performance and if they see any blips in that area they will focus on the business at issue and will try to trim costs. Also, cumulatively, given the growth Qualcomm is experiencing and outstanding cash flow, there is a lot of hiring that's going on - so when you look at the numbers overall, the workforce is expanding and not shrinking.
