Thread regarding L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. layoffs

@L3, you’re right, layoffs are not fun and occasionally they are needed as the economy affects the ebb and flow of all businesses. You’re also right, L-3 has not had a layoff in many, many years. And yes CSW has created lots of profit for L-3…up until now with regard to the financial fiascos of ROVER 6 and Encompass. Everyone knows that Susan Opp was at corp a few weeks ago and that she was heavily reprimanded for the financial issues that CSW is currently facing. The success and failures of a company are a direct result of how the President of that company conducts business. Every little decision they make filters down throughout the entire company. If she makes a decision to violate company policy of family members reporting and signing time cards of other family members, that gives the appearance that policies are not taken seriously, that nepotism is ok, etc etc etc and the rest of the company will in some way follow in those footsteps. If she has a spine and takes a stand against her whiney executive staff that acts like 3rd graders in a finger-pointing blame game and tells them all to get over it and do their jobs and take responsibility for their decisions, then the idea that accountability is important, is filtered down throughout the company. But when blind eyes are turned against the problem children of the executive staff, she is enabling them to slowly but surely, destroy this great company. Here is a perfect example for you and if you don’t believe me and think that it’s “way off the mark or frankly just made up” then you’re probably either on the executive staff that is blowing smoke up everyone’s smoke pipe or you are one of the many middle management that is kissing the smoke hole of the executives so bad that your head is permanently lodged up there. Either way you have chosen to not see what is going on right in front of you and it is management like you that has spiraled L-3’s finances out of control by the pure fact that you are probably way over paid and for what? To be a fixture in the bowels of upper management so that they look good and frankly that is “a waste of company resources” so I highly suggest that you pull your head out and listen. Camille Guth, fired one of her employees in Dec 2011, who worked in Payroll, for embezzling company money. This individual was caught keeping 3 separate books. This employee would “accidently” credit too much money to random employee’s direct deposit paycheck. Then this Payroll employee would “recognize” their mistake and notify the affected employee that a mistake was made and that the extra funds would be taken from their account but they would still be paid for the correct amount of hours they worked. These “extra” funds would then be “lost” in the retransfer back to L-3 and no one was the wiser until it was MILLIONS of dollars too late. Of course L-3 always does knee jerk reactions so they fired this employee as soon as they got wind of the investigation. It wasn’t until almost a year later that L-3 had enough information that they could actually file criminal charges against this former Payroll employee. Camille Guth gave the go ahead and when the employee’s information was ran through the system, they discovered this employee had already left the country. When Camille Guth was notified of this her response was to let it go because it would cost the company too much money to go after them since they weren’t in the country any longer. In essence, Camille Guth fired an employee for embezzling company money but gave them a multi-million dollar severance package. Sooo….go ahead and try to convince me or anyone else that upper management is NOT contributing to this financial debacle we’re in. Go ahead and try to convince me or anyone else that upper management has ETHICS, INTEGRITY, and ACCOUNTABILITY. I dare you. As for “those let go were mostly poor performers”, once you can prove to me the PDA system is fool proof against managers who only grade their employees based on whether they like them or not and that PDAs are really based off the employees actual work and work place attitude, then I and the rest of the readers out there will believe you that those let go actually deserved it. Until then or until you are actually doing the work on the floor and can truthfully see and feel the consequences that happen to the undeserving, hard workers due to the poor decisions made by unqualified management, you should keep your comments to yourself.
