Thread regarding L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. layoffs

A layoff is never a fun thing so I certainly understand the emotions being presented here. But everyone should put this into its proper perspective. CSW has not had a layoff.... in many... many years. CSW has grown something like 15% a year for more than a decade and has created over 2,500 new jobs in Utah during that time. Also CSW performance has been great, creating lots of profit for L3 and their shareholders. The vast majority of info below is either way off the mark or frankly just made up. The simple fact is, defense budgets are being cut 10% or more and sequestration has added a wild unknown to the equation. New awards are being impacted dramatically and nothing CSW management can do changes that fact. By laying off 4% now hopefully we will be more competitive and win more share of the smaller pie that is now available to win. Also those let go were mostly poor performers. Hopefully those that stay realize that performance is what makes or breaks whether your on the list of more layoffs become necessary. At the end of the day all businesses go through ups and down.
