It’s unfortunate that a CCC at your campus is abusing the privilege to teach by double dipping on company time, but I do maintain that not all staff who are faculty abuse that privilege. I arrive on time each day and so do my colleagues who teach. This is monitored closely at my campus. If you are observing this, why not report it to the Ethics hotline? When I said that I work 60+ hours, I meant that I work my regular 40 hour work week as staff and then spend about 20+ additional hours teaching, grading, and interacting with students to answer questions each week. I consider my contracted classes to be a separate job and put in the hours outside of work to be successful at it. Those who are staff/faculty and do not abuse it understand the commitment (and probably enjoy the student interactions tremendously as I do). Academic Affairs has long preferred that internal staff who are qualified teach courses because of their closeness to policy and campus culture. This is not something imagined. It is the reason why AA staff were (previously) automatically allowed to teach if qualified and issues generated in staff member courses can impact our staff roles. In some ways, we are held to even higher standards. Again, what a shame for long term UOPers. It feels as though they are chipping away at everything. It’s also a shame that an uniformed colleague would attack all staff/faculty in such a generalized way.
