Well, even though they are direct-charging job codes that are billed at any rate above your salary, or even techs at above their pay per hour, it costs the company for benefits. About $20,000.00 per year for benefits, on average, is what the company pays out. So, it's not necessarily a middle-man op where you "work" for L-3 but your pay comes from job-codes direct to the customer. Don't forget, we need to pay for facilities, buildings, new SkyNets, first-class-flights to foreign lands, fancy pens, 3-D monitors for pie-chart-catered-lunch-presentations, laser pointers, and don't forget our R&D, most of that is speculative, a gamble (necessary), but it cost resources too. And LOTS of fat, FAT overhead, fat management budgets for "managers" to sit around pointing their laser pointers at each others "pie charts" and then eating catered lunches to talk about w/e, their new 5th wheel camping sites or fishing for steelhead in some expensive realm while their workers sweat and bleed tears, and then get laid off. This company has some sort of expectation that the middle-management here can make 5 times the average worker and pretty much just make a circle and say "here's my data for the week". It's beyond belief, but that's what is happening! If L-3 (anywhere) can deconstruct the massive middle layers of management (team lead, supervisor, middle-manager, shift lead, night team lead, weekend team lead, weekend night shift team manager shift supervisor, building lead, building manager, building day-shift lead manager, etc... etc.. etc..) then maybe they can be a company here in SLC that gives a shit and the workers can be proud of what they do and happy they have a job!... I doubt it without a serious management-structure adjustment, and from the looks of the LLL stock being dumped by those in the "know" I don't think they care.
