Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

I am a former graduate of Everest and obtained a bachelors degree

I am a former graduate of Everest and obtained a bachelors degree. I transfered over 50 credits from a community college and at the end I still had a balance of $57,000. How is this even possible? Financial aide called me at the end and said part of my loans didn't go through and I had an additional balance of $10,000. Everest did not want to release my diploma until I gave them $10,000. I could not belive what I was hearing and they had me at their mercy. Now I have this enormous debt that will take me a lifetime to pay back. I am not complaining about the degree I received because I was able to land a good job, but how is it possible for me to transfer so many credits and still be at such a high balance at the end. I didn't even know how much they were charging me or what loans they were cashing in on at the time. Are there any attorneys that are helping graduates with situations like mine?
