There have always been problems with the RJ IT department in that Sr. Management has always made some really poor decisions and focus has always been on deadlines as opposed to quality. When focus is on driving deadlines regardless of whether the product is ready, then crap gets pushed out to production. When crap is consistently being pushed out to production, staff increases because you need the resources to support the endless supply of crap. I am not saying this is the result of untalented resources, but rather the unrealistic timelines that were driven by management as well as the poor solution decisions and poor planning on the part of management. When the new management came in, I knew what they had to do and had high hopes that there would be a change in values to where quality products would start making it into production. After a couple of months I realized that this was not the case. It became clear that the project that I was working on was going to become another piece of crap out on production, only this time the little people that got blamed were going to get chopped. I informed the manager 3 levels up that they will never get to their end goal with the direction that they were heading in and explained why. That fell on deaf ears and they continued to proceed in that direction. I could see that the new management in IT was now financially draining the company and that they really did not care if any of their efforts were a success. They are merely milking the company for everything they can get out of it. I left before the project completed because I am no dummy. Best move I have ever made, by the way. Things really do have a way of working out for the best. I do happen to know that the boatload of money that they sunk into the product and project that I was on is money out the window. The project was scrapped after throwing one crappy report in the tool out on production and the company is now looking at other products. What a joke! Raymond James has become the laughing stock of the industry. I tell everyone I run into including people I work with now, if they want a good laugh to check out this site. Hopefully other companies can learn from RJ’s ignorance and stupidity.
