The difference between the VSO and the layoff, with the VSO you qualify for a lump sum. Layoffs don't with the exception to Vacation / Sick hour accumulation. Those can be issued in a lump sum. If you have wage works i suggest slamming your head in a door a few times to spend the funds. Either spend it on a doctor or L3 gets to keep it, bare in mind over-the-counter-medications, vitamins and 1st-aid supplies are no-longer eligible for wage works submissions.
