Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

For the instructors who thinks For profit education and placement is far better than a community based college- you are CRAZY. Go visit community colleges, their classrooms, their programs, their tuitions, the entire element of people both teaching and studying. THERE IS NO COMPARISON- I've worked for two CCI campuses and they were dirty, smelly, with school and promotional events you'd be embarrassed to represent. Not to mention that your primary responsibility as an instructors were NOT THE STUDENTS, but the BUSINESS that you were selected to represent. That is why you made a good salary- it is a BUSINESS-generated by sales and government sponsorship. Some of my students in BA programs had loans in the $40-50,000.00 with little or no financial security to back them. Take your head out from under the sand. At least own up to what type of organization you work for. Perhaps a few good apples in both teachers and student placement but the majority have been oversold a dream that is very difficult to obtain.
