Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Doug, well you want to know why people are leaving? I left after the layoff with no severance so here goes

Here's why: Chesapeake does not mirror industry standards, other companies honor their employment offers but if you call HR at CHK when something's wrong they tell you that the offer is not a contract and they don't have to honor any part of it, even if any accounting error went wrong etc ('off the record' managers use it as a way to get good talent in but have no intention of honoring it); More people will leave after the next bonus round, I guarantee it (you would be better off giving an invitation for open severance - full equity vest /3 months of pay to leave - for any takers to go ahead and reduce your headcount) because no one trusts that mass layoffs are not coming again; You claim the 15% 401k match is the best and even considered reducing it, well other super majors have guaranteed pensions and some of them even do multiplier matching (for every one dollar employee puts in, employer puts in higher by factor of 2-4+; or some companies such as your direct competitor put in company contributions regardless of what the employee puts in); you say your salary is competitive, its not, I am in the same exact position, same title with another company and I make 20k more per year; HR is out to screw the employees based on every first hand account I have heard of someone dealing with them; Finally, since everyone thinks the entire company is for sale, they are applying for jobs and taking them when they come up, hard to work at a place you think has no future or is directly on sale for Anadarko specifically (personally, I think Devon has the better balance sheet but looks quite content with their 6B+ purchase of Eagle Ford assets); Finally HR is not your friend and any questions will be directed back at your supervisor with or without your consent; As far as your stock price being beaten up? The market likely expected more asset sales, or more layoffs, but with the current trend, people are leaving on their own and I wish all of them the best
