Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Think of the future

Layoffs are never pleasant. At this point it sounds like decisions have been made and it's a waiting game (at least for the next week); if the debated timelines shift I'm sure it will surface.

If you think you're at risk, make sure you're as ready as you can be for what happens after the fateful news. Is it time for a career change? Do you know who you want to stay connected with and how to get connect with them? If you're wanting to someday return, are you going to remember discussing that?

If you think you're in the clear, don't be a jerk to anyone next week. You may not know who is at risk and whether or not their final impression of you is analogous to certain personal cleansing products. Being human to others before, during and after will get appreciated by everyone.

Based on the past, Target does appear to have a decent package program that included being on payroll for 45 days (or close for those cut in 10/13) along with week of pay/year of service (e.g., 3 years = 3 weeks pay) and pay-out of vacation time.

For those complaining about their peers, leaders = most jobs are "at will" which means you can leave any time. If you're not helping making things better, you're as much a problem as they are.
